What We Do

Our private wakeboard lessons are geared towards riders of all ages and abilities. Our goal is to teach you what you need and want to learn, whether its simply getting out of the water for the first time or landing your 10th invert. Our instructors each have over a dozen years of wakeboarding and teaching experience. We strive to create a fun, laid back, safe environment for you to learn something new about the sport of wakeboarding each time you come out with us. Our instructors, boat, and equipment are all top notch and our ability to customize a lesson around your individual needs will maintain a constant level of progression that will keep you coming back for more.

Our Boat

We have been fortunate enough to work closely with Malibu Boats and Bakes Marine Center for the past 5 years. This summer we will tow all riders on our brand new 21 foot Malibu vRide. This boat has full ballast and a wedge, which gives us the ability to customize the size and shape of the wake to your individual preference. Big, small, pitchy, or mellow; the wake will be exactly what you prefer.

Our Gear

This year, our clients can choose from a full lineup of Slingshot wakeboards and bindings. We have worked with Slingshot for the past 3 years and our staff has fallen in love with the unique products they have to offer. The boards pop huge and land soft, and the bindings are the most comfortable things you’ll ever put on your feet.

Our Staff

Most private lessons will be taught by Greg Young, one of the owners of Northwest Riders. Greg has been wakeboarding for 14 years and professionally instructing for 5. In 2003 he was a member of Western Washington University’s wakeboard team when they won the collegiate National Championships. Guest coaches may from time to time show up to help out. You may be occasionally surprised when pro riders like Brent Starr or one of our other talented sponsored athletes stop by to hang out for the day. No matter who is coaching your lesson, you can count on their professionalism, their ability to take your riding to a new level, and their fun and laid back attitude.

Location

For most lessons, we will pick you up at the north end of Lake Washington in Kenmore. We typically use the public dock at Tracy Owen Station (also known as Log Boom Park), which is located at 6100 NE 175th St, Kenmore WA. 98028. For directions (from Seattle), click here. If you live on Lake Washington, we can pick you up at your own dock too. Depending on where you live, this may cost extra due to fuel costs. If you’d like to arrange dockside pickup, give us a call.

Our Schedule Lessons are available at the following times:

  • 6:15 am – 7:15 am
  • 7:30 am – 8:30 am
  • 8:45 am – 9:45 am
We are more than happy to offer lessons at any other point throughout the day, and our scheduling for lessons starting later than 10:00 am is a bit more flexible. Please call us to arrange scheduling.

***Because we have lessons before and after yours, it is imperative that we operate on a tight time schedule. All lessons begin and end exactly when scheduled. It is a good idea to arrive 5-10 minutes early for each lesson. If you are late, it is important to realize that any delay WILL cut into your time. Because we are at the mercy of the weather, if the north end of Lake Washington isn’t as smooth as you’d like we are happy to drive around looking for better water. However, it is important to realize that this WILL cut into your time.

Pricing
  • 1-2 riders :: $100 per hour
  • 3-4 riders :: $120 per hour
  • 5+ riders :: $140 per hour
***All lessons MUST be paid in advance by check, cash, or credit card. Payment by credit card may be done over the phone and will be processed thru Paypal. Cancellations must be made a minimum of 2 days prior to a lesson for an 80% refund. Any cancellation made less than 2 days before a scheduled lesson will NOT be eligible for a refund of any kind, nor will transferring dates be an option.
