A few months ago, I received a call from my friend Dru Gunderson, who I’d met a few years ago while doing some wakeboard clinics near Kalispell, MT. While we were catching up with each other, he mentioned a friend in town who’s son had been staying at Children’s hospital because of a spinal cord tumor and the resulting series of surgeries to remove it. I think Dru was hoping we could send him some t-shirts, but when I mentioned it to our team rider Brandon Robins who had recently lost a leg and knew his way around a hospital, he was more than happy to swing by and make a visit with me.
Read on for the full visit recap.
In addition to the awesome email I received today (below)...which some may consider spam, but put a smile on my face nonetheless...I had quite the treat from a fortune cookie the other day.
The fortune was: "you will receive pieces of gold by the bushel."
If this little prophesy comes true we'll be sending each of our past customers a free t-shirt.

herself, but I never expected she would do it quite so fast. It is quite vexing. I had hoped to have before he reached the castle, he would be spared the need to take up arms against House Tully
Thank you parwehomher...thank you.
After sitting down this evening and following my newest routine (watching the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams) I was disgusted to see that both CitiBank and Bank of America are asking for a combined total of nearly $45 billion in help from the federal government. It actually got me thinking. I'm pretty sure that Northwest Riders deserves at least a couple of billion in assistance as well. So, we're happy to announce that once we receive payment for the 2.3 billion dollars we've requested from the fed, we're going to throw a party and everyone's invited. We'll have clowns, cake, dancing, gypsies, dancing gypsies, a petting zoo, and Michael McDonald will be on stage all night. Anyway, just wanted to let you know.
Please join us for our 1st annual Northwest Riders Swap Meet on Saturday, December 13 from 10am until 5 pm. We will be pooling all of our new and used wake, snow, surf, and skim gear with that of many of our team riders. With so much gear coming from sponsored riders, you’ll be sure to find new or used boards, bindings, clothing, ropes/handles, board bags, etc at prices you won’t find anywhere else. This will also be a great chance to swing by and check out all of our new Northwest Riders winter clothing.
The swap meet will be held at our office at 3859 NE 178th St. in Lake Forest Park (98155). See you there!
Our skim team has taken to the road for a film trip through NW Washington and into BC Canada. They will be travelling on a 5-day long trip sessioning a bunch of skim spots getting footage for their new video. Greg is playing bus driver for the team and has sent us an update. Have a read.

Just wanted to write a quick apology to the gentlemen we just encountered at the Safeway gas pumps in Kenmore, WA.

Family seems to be the theme of the month for our little company. One of our wake riders, Mr. Eric Sund and his lovely wife Lindsey recently welcomed their daughter Rylee Mae to the family. Rylee is their first kid and we’ve got money on her first words being ‘nose press’ or ‘back lip.’ For those of you that don’t know, Eric is the resident king of rails at the playground that is Koppert Lake. Congratulations Eric and Lindsey!
Our old friend and team rider, Brent Starr and his lovely wife Amy recently celebrated their one year wedding anniversary. Brent spends a good chunk of his summers on the Northwest Riders Tour, and we’re hoping that Amy might be able to join in on a few of our trips this summer. Congratulations to the Starrs, once they decide to add a few kids perhaps they’ll lay claim to having a new constellation named after them. We’d call it “The Mason Lake Mafia.”
If you don’t have other plans tonight, come on down to the Lake Street Grill at 15 Lake Street in Kirkland to check out Team Rider Jared Eygabroad’s new wakeboard video “Godspeed.” The doors open at 7pm and the event will be all ages until 10pm. Don’t forget to wear your Northwest Riders gear and show your support. All of our new products will be for sale at our booth, and you can check out the new bus as well.
A New Rider Is Born
Northwest Riders is a proud grandparent (?) of the newest addition to our growing family. Our original designer from Day 1, Gabe Coyne, and his beautiful wife Jamie welcomed their healthy baby boy Ethan James Coyne into the world on Thursday February 28th. Ethan was 7 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 inches long. He seems destined to be a surfer, as he came out grabbing rail on the umbilical cord. Also noteworthy is the fact that unlike many of the undeniably ugly babies out there, Ethan is one heck of a cute kid. Congratulations Gabe and Jamie!
