The fact that it is December 20 and this is the first BLOG update of the month speaks well to the fact that our holiday rush has been nothing less than fantastic.

We wanted to post a quick fall wakeboarding video of NWR wake team rider Zach Schneider. There are some solid rail shots from Koppert Lake in Southern Washington.

We posted last week on the action sports youth film festival NFFTY. The team running things there have decided to extend the submission deadline to allow more filmmakers to get their videos in. The payment submission AND the film need to be in by February 15, so get going!

Also, festival passes and opening night tickets are on sale for the show (right here in Seattle, WA) so be sure and get your NFFTY tickets before February 28th to save some cash.

We saw the first of these videos some time ago and just crossed over the footage again of the original and the newer edit. Both are pretty impressive.

Nimbus has posted a film on their Vimeo titled 'Thank You' that is worth watching. The intro has some stellar filming and the shots are super colorful and well edited. The beginning has some sweet freeriding and from 10:27 to the end when the Big Mountain shredding gets going I was fully amped.

The Northwest is getting dusted with snow and the mountains are opening for shredding. The changing of the seasons is now feeling official as we say bon voyage to summer.

Red Bull Illume is a photography contest that produced some incredible shots for everything from surfing to air racing. Click on for some links to the various images and sites as well as a video posted for the Red Bull Illume event in Dublin, Ireland.

We have a few photos up from the Northwest Riders Wake Series on our gallery page. Most of the shots we posted there are from the Friday night double up event. One gallery has photos from our buddy Jared Eygabroad who also MC'd the Saturday contest. The other gallery features shots from Rhys Logan of rhystomahawk.com.

Also, Rhys has plenty of shots from the Saturday event on his website. He sat out in a tube for a good portion of the day grabbing photos of the competitors as they went by. Many of his shots are available to purchase if interested.

Wake team rider Eddie Roberts made his way out to the lake to show a local Seattle "Features Reporter" from Q13 a few pointers on the wakeboard. Eddie gave a lesson and then followed it up with some riding of his own for the camera.

Our good friend Spencer Norris of W.I.T. productions recently posted a short little video of some random footage he had on the Northwest. The video shows a bit of life here in the PNW from the coast to the street and on up to the mountain.

The only mark against it is that his title has three too many 'Z's in it. I know that my name starts with this superior letter so singling it out is questionable...but ending anything with it gives me a feeling similar to what I imagine the feeling would be of having Cousin Eddie as a roommate. I forgive you Spencer.

Anyway, we liked it...you just might also. Click through to watch.

The National Film Festival for Talented Youth is coming to Seattle April 19 through May 2. Northwest Riders' own Brandon Robins will be on hand as a judge for the action sports category as well as longtime Wakeboard Northwest contributor and northwest photographer Bryan Myss.

The films are anywhere from 3 minutes to 15 minutes in length and are representing filmmakers from the northwest as well as all over the country. We highly encourage you to go check it out and support some talented up and comers in the film world.
